Taxonomy
Nautilus francomontanus was named by Kuhn (1939). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Staffelberg (platynota zone), which is in a Kimmeridgian carbonate limestone in the Weissjura Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Eutrephoceras claramontanum by Chevallier et al. (1987).
