Ribeiria johni was named by Polechová (2015) [= 1903 Ribeiria apusoides Schubert & Waagen; Perner, pl. 49, figs 14-17, not pl. 49, figs 5, 6, 18-26.
= 1976 Ribeiria apusoides Schubert & Waagen; Pojeta & Runnegar, p. 53, pl. 6, fig. 13; not pl. 5, figs 114; pl. 6, figs 1-12, 14, 15.]. Its type specimen is NM L 7859, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lejskov (= Leiskov) near Malkov, which is in a Berounian carbonate limestone in the Králuv Dvur Formation of the Czech Republic.
