Taxonomy
Nautilus giganteus was named by d'Orbigny (1843). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.B48671 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Paracenoceras giganteus by Kummel (1956); it was recombined as Paracenoceras giganteum by Enay et al. (1994) and Halder and Bardhan (1996).
