Taxonomy
Nautilus annularis was named by Phillips (1829). Its type specimen is Whitby 62, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized objectively with Nautilus undulatus by Howarth (1962); it was recombined as Cenoceras annulare by Rulleau (2008).
