Taxonomy
Libellula adriatica was named by Bagli and Gentilini (2003). Its type specimen is MTR 188, a hindwing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Monte Castellaro (MTR collection), which is in a Messinian lagoonal marl in the Gessoso-solfifera Formation of Italy.
