Phyllocladus aberensis was named by Hill (1989). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is LRR1-951, a leaf. Its type locality is Little Rapid River 2, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in Australia.

Hill 1989 | Phylloclades about 20-40 mm long, 9-25 mm wide, sometimes narrowing towards a short, stalk-like region; margins entire or lobed, the lobes tending to be more prominent toward the base; veins numerous, diverging obliquely from the midrib. Phylloclades hypostomatic, or with a few stomates on the upper surface. Stomates on the lower surface arranged in more or less parallel longitudinal rows. Florin ring with an unlobed ridge, surrounded by a wide peripheral groove with shallow sloping walls on both sides. Outer cuticular surface between Florin rings smooth. Cuticle covering subsidiary cells smooth, cuticle covering epidermal cells relatively granular. |
