Scyphocrinites was named by Zenker (1833) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl D Gedi-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Scyphocrinitidae.

It was assigned to Scyphocrinitidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
