Smithtonia jonesii
Taxonomy
Smithtonia jonesii was named by Hill and Pole (1992) [Type locality. Little Rapid River, north-western Tasmania. Specimens examined. LRR2-1306, 1310, 1311.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype. LRR2-1311, housed in the Department of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a leaf (Cuticle), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Little Rapid River 2, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in Australia.
