Clonocrinus was named by Quenstedt (1876) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl S Ludl]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Clonocrinidae.

It was assigned to Clonocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
