Taxonomy
Banksieaephyllum taylorii was named by Carpenter et al. (1994) [Specimens Examined: LB-024,52,55. Type Locality: Paleocene sediments, Lake Bungarby, south-eastern New South Wales.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: LB-052, stored in the Department of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a leaf (Cuticle), and it is a compression fossil.

R. J. Carpenter et al. 1994Leaves pinnately lobed, apical side of lobe straight, basal side acuminate. Stomates superficial, small, about 20 µm long x 15 µm wide. Trichome bases of two types on abaxial surface, thickened cylindrical bases associated with one epidermal cell, larger diameter bases associated with up to four cells. Papillae and striations absent from both surfaces.
