Eucryphia reticulata was named by Barnes and Jordan (2000) [Type Locality: Early Oligocene sediments at Lea River, north-western Tasmania.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: Lea-3301, stored in the School of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a seed/fruit, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lea River, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial siltstone in Australia.
