Taxonomy
Pistacia marquezii was named by Ramírez and Cevallos-Ferriz (2002). Its type specimen is IGM-PB 1082, a leaf, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is IGM-2573, Los Ahuehuetes locality, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine shale/sandstone in the Coatzingo Formation of Mexico.
