Globocrinus was named by Washburn (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant. Its type is Globocrinus bulbus.

It was assigned to Ampelocrinidae by Washburn (1968); and to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
