Taxonomy
Libocedrus microformis was named by Paull and Hill (2009) [Specimens examined in detail (48). RPE-65, 66, 68, 69, 71, 161, 191–195, 197, 198, 271, 272, 351–355, 461, 481–483, 522, 523, 621, 624, 641, 642, 644, 645, 661–645, 701–706, 721–724, 801. There are many other similar specimens from Regatta Point. These were chosen to represent the morphological variability.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: RPE-641, stored in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Adelaide, South Australia., a sterile axis (Cuticle), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Regatta Point Eocene, which is in an Eocene fluvial-deltaic mudstone/sandstone in Australia.

ReferenceDiagnosis
R. Paull and R. S. Hill 2009Subopposite to alternate branchlets arising in same plane. Leaves almost monomorphic and very small. Lateral leaves slightly bilaterally flattened, bases slightly papillate. Lateral and facial leaves imbricate, keeled, apices bluntly acute, margins frilled.
