| Deane 1925 | Disconnected phylloclades rhomboidal and cuneate, about 10-40 mm long, 4-20 mm wide, sometimes narrowing towards a short stalk-like region; margins entire or lobed, the lobes tending to be distal; veins numerous, diverging obliquely from a rather prominent midrib. Phylloclades hypostomatic, or with a variable number of stomata on the upper surface. Stomata on the lower surface arranged in more or less regular longitudinal rows. Florin ring with an unlobed ridge, surrounded by a deep peripheral groove with steep walls. Outer surface of cuticle between Florin rings ridged in a pattern which follows the epidermal cells. Cuticle covering subsidiary and epidermal cells smooth. A single layer of palisade parenchyma occurs beneath the upper epidermis and a zone of spongy parenchyma beneath the lower. |
