Promelocrinus was named by Jaekel (1902) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Melocrinitidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978) and Webster and Webster (2012).
