Cissites patagonica was named by Berry (1937). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type locality is Cerro Funes, which is in a Paleocene terrestrial claystone in Argentina.

E. W. Berry 1937 | Leaves of small or medium size, variable, broadly ovate to trilobate. Tip acutely extended in the simple leaves, bluntly angular in the lobed leaves. Base broadly cuneate to rounded. Margins entire below, above with small crenate teeth, more or less closely spaced and variable in emphasis. Texture subcoriaceous. Length ranging from 5 to 11 cm. Maximum width 3.5 to 9 cm. Petiole stout, not complete in any of the material. Midvein stout and prominent. Lateral primaries one on each side, diverging from the top of the petiole at acute angles, as stout and prominent as the midvein. In the simple leaves these ascend to the upper part of the leaf and join a lateral vein from the lowest secondaries; in the trilobate leaves they run to the tips of the lateral lobes. |
