Cryptocaryoides was named by Berry (1937). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Cryptocaryoides mariasantisimensis.

It was assigned to Lauraceae by Berry (1937) and Andrews (1970).

E. W. Berry 1937Leaves subelliptical widest at or slightly below the middle, with abruptly acute tip and a broadly cuneate base. Margins entire. Texture subcoriaceous. Length about 9.5 cm. Maximum width about 4 cm. Petiole not preserved, obviously stout. Midvein stout and prominent. Lateral primaries or basal secondaries one on each side, diverging from the midvein from above the base at angles of about 45°, ascending rather straightly to about the middle where they join a lateral branch from the lowest secondaries. Secondaries about 5 pairs, ascending curved, camptodrome. Tertiaries thin not well preserved except for the outside camptodrome branches from the lateral primaries or basal secondaries.
