Laurophyllum piatnitzkyi was named by Berry (1937). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type locality is Cerro Funes, which is in a Paleocene terrestrial claystone in Argentina.

E. W. Berry 1937 | Leaves of small or moderate size, widest at or slightly below the middle, with acute tip and cuneate slightly decurrent base. Margins entire, rather full and evenly curved. Texture subcoriaceous. Length 6 to 9 cm. Maximum width 1.7 to 2.5 cm. Petiole stout, curved, at least 1.5 cm. long. Midvein mediumly stout and prominent, about 7 pairs, diverging from the midvein at irregular intervals, long ascending, curved, camptodrome, the basal pair more prominent than the others. Tertiaries mostly obsolete. |
