Stipatocrinus was named by Eckert and Brett (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Stipatocrinidae.

It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stipatocrinidae by Ausich and Copper (2010).
