Taxonomy
Xenocrinus was named by Miller (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-m O Ashg-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Xenocrinus penicillus. It is the type genus of Xenocrinidae.

It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Xenocrinidae by Ausich and Copper (2010) and Ausich and Cournoyer (2019).
