Agostocrinus was named by Kesling and Paul (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Agostocrinidae.

It was assigned to Agostocrinidae by Ausich (1998); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
