Allagecrinus was named by Etheridge and Carpenter (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-u C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 906]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Allagecrinidae.

It was assigned to Allagecrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
