Taxonomy
Acanthoceras albertense was named by Warren (1930). It is the type species of Dunveganoceras, Dunveganoceras (Dunveganoceras).

It was recombined as Dunveganoceras albertense by Cobban (1953); it was recombined as Dunveganoceras (Dunveganoceras) albertense by Wright et al. (1996).
