Taxonomy
Archisymplectes rhothon was named by Schram (1973). Its type specimen is FMNH PE12670 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Pit 11, Braidwood, Mazon Creek (FMNH coll), which is in a Westphalian D deltaic mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
