Nothofagus glandularis

Nothofagus glandularis was named by Hill (1991) [Specimens examined: LRR1-623, 627-629, 859, 1091-1100, 1144-1146, 1378, 1379, 1387-1390, LRR2-155; P-012, 321, 322, 611, 911, 1091; m-115-117, 119, 120, 1936, 1945, 1986, 1987.]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is LRR1-1378, a seed/fruit (Cupule). Its type locality is Little Rapid River 1, which is in an Oligocene fluvial-lacustrine mudstone in Australia.

R. S. Hill 1991 | Cupule 4-valved, valves 8.3 mm long (range 6-11 mm), straight or slightly curved, narrow at base, widening to attachment with cupule. Cupule valves woody, gaping when mature, free for their entire length. Number of lamellae variable, lamellae deciduous, devided but not branched, glandular-tipped. Three fruits per cupule, the central dimerous fruit flanked by trimerous fruits. |
