Ammonites ponticuli was named by Rousseau (1842). It is the type species of Euphylloceras.
It was recombined as Holcophylloceras ponticuli by Cecca et al. (1998); it was recombined as Euphylloceras ponticuli by Murphy and Rodda (2006).
