Thaminocrinus was named by Strimple and Watkins (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-l C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 906]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Allagecrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
