Zophocrinus was named by Miller (1891) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl S Ludl Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Zophocrinidae.

It was assigned to Zophocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
