Taxonomy
Hybocrinus was named by Billings (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Cara-m Sepkoski's reference number: 805]. It is not extant. Its type is Hybocrinus conicus. It is the type genus of Hybocrinidae.

It was assigned to Hybocrinidae by Parsley (1981) and Ausich (1998); and to Hybocrinida by Sepkoski (2002).
