Apographiocrinus was named by Moore and Plummer (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u P Wc]. It is not extant. Its type is Apographiocrinus typicalis. It is the type genus of Apographiocrinidae.

It was assigned to Apographiocrinidae by Webster (1987); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
