Basleocrinus was named by Wanner (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Guad-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Basleocrinidae.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Basleocrinidae by Wanner (1916) and Webster and Webster (2012).
