Galateacrinus was named by Moore (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u C Step-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Galateacrinidae.

It was assigned to Texacrinidae by Webster and Jell (1992); to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Galateacrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978) and Webster and Webster (2012).
