Goleocrinus was named by Strimple and Watkins (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Mosc-l Sepkoski's reference number: 257,660,906]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cromyocrinidae by Moore and Strimple (1973); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
