Taxonomy
Hydreionocrinus was named by De Koninck (1858) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-l C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 906]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Hydreionocrinacea, Hydreionocrinidae.

It was assigned to Hydreionocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
