Maximites cherokeensis
Taxonomy
Imitoceras cherokeense was named by Miller and Owen (1939). Its type specimen is SUI 13484b, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ewing strip pit, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Cherokee Formation of Missouri.
It was recombined as Maximites cherokeensis by Frest et al. (1981).
