Marathonocrinus was named by Moore and Plummer (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash C Mosc-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Texacrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978) and Webster and Webster (2012).
