Taxonomy
Ammonites mucronatus was named by d'Orbigny (1845). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R01415 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Semur en Auxois, which is in a Sinemurian marine limestone in France.
It was recombined as Collina mucronata by Howarth (1962); it was recombined as Mucrodactylites mucronatus by Guex (1972).
