Oligobrachyocrinus was named by Arendt (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-m]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Oligobrachyocrinidae.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oligobrachyocrinidae by Webster and Webster (2012).
