Taxonomy
Emilites bennisoni was named by Mapes and Boardman (1988). Its type specimen is SUI 53126, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Roadcut on north side of 41st Street, which is in a Kasimovian marine shale in the Iola Formation of Oklahoma.
