Taxonomy
Anetoceras was named by Schindewolf (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-l D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyrtoceratites arduennensis. It is the type genus of Anetoceratinae.
It was assigned to Mimosphinctinae by Arkell et al. (1957); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Anetoceratinae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
