Quienquecaudex was named by Brower and Veinus (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l O Ashg-l Sepkoski's reference number: 239].

It was corrected as Quinquecaudex by Ausich (1998) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Dendrocrinidae by Brower and Veinus (1982) and Brower (1995); to Cupulocrinidae by Ausich (1998); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
