Cardiomya pavascotti was named by Hickman (2014). Its type specimen is UCMP 110678 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Columbia (USGS 25026) - Hickman (1980), which is in a Priabonian deep-water siltstone/mudstone in the Keasey Formation of Oregon.
