Taxonomy
Nautilus exiguus was named by Crick (1898). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bradford Abbas, Hyperlioceras bed, which is in a Discites carbonate limestone in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Cenoceras exiguus by Kummel (1956); it was recombined as Cenoceras (Metacenoceras) exiguum by Tinant (1987).
