Ophionautilus zitteli
Taxonomy
Nautilus zitteli was named by Gemmellaro (1886). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fontana Difali, Monte Erice (Gemmellaro collection), which is in a Toarcian/Aalenian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Cenoceras zitteli by Kummel (1956); it was recombined as Ophionautilus zitteli by Tinant (1987).
