Stellarocrinus was named by Strimple (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u P Wc]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Stellarocrinidae.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stellarocrinidae by Webster and Lane (1967) and Webster et al. (2009).
