Thetidicrinus was named by Wanner (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Thetidicrininae.

It was assigned to Thetidicrininae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Codiacrinidae by Webster and Webster (2012).
