Vertigocrinus was named by Knapp (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l C Step-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Vertigocrinus subtilis.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pirasocrinidae by Pabian and Rushlau (2002).
