Taxonomy
Belemnites puzosianus was named by d'Orbigny (1843). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R09432 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cylindroteuthis puzosi by Jeannet (1951); it was recombined as Cylindroteuthis puzosiana by Enay et al. (1994).
