Hemistreptocrinus was named by Arendt (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Hemistreptocrinidae.

It was assigned to Hemistreptocrinidae by Arendt (1976); and to Crinoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
